Cookie policy
Last updated: November 6, 2026
This cookie policy explains how Home Velvet uses cookies and similar technologies on this website, and how you can control them.
What cookies are
Cookies are small text files that a website stores in your browser. They let the site remember things between pages and visits, such as the items in your cart or the fact that you are signed in. Similar technologies, such as your browser’s local storage, work in much the same way.
Cookies we use
We only use cookies that are strictly necessary for the store to work: your cart, checkout, customer account and the security and speed of the site. These cookies cannot be switched off in our systems, because the store would not work without them.
| Cookie | Set by | Purpose | How long it lasts |
|---|---|---|---|
woocommerce_cart_hash | WooCommerce | Remembers the contents of your cart so it stays up to date as you browse. | Until you close your browser |
woocommerce_items_in_cart | WooCommerce | Tells the store whether your cart has items in it. | Until you close your browser |
wp_woocommerce_session_* | WooCommerce | Links your visit to your cart and checkout details. | 2 days |
wordpress_logged_in_*, wordpress_sec_* | WordPress | Keeps you signed in to your customer account. Only set if you sign in. | Until you close your browser, or 14 days if you choose “Remember me” |
wordpress_test_cookie | WordPress | Checks that your browser accepts cookies when you sign in. | Until you close your browser |
_lscache_vary | Our website host (LiteSpeed) | Makes sure you see the right version of a page, for example when your cart is not empty. | Until you close your browser |
Information stored in your browser
Some features of this website save small pieces of information in your browser’s local storage instead of a cookie. This information stays on your device, is not sent to us with each page, and remains until you clear your browser data.
| Name | Purpose |
|---|---|
hh-recent | Remembers the products you viewed so they can be shown again under “Recently viewed”. |
hh-popup-closed | Remembers that you closed the newsletter sign-up box so it is not shown again straight away. |
hh-subscribed | Remembers that you already signed up to our newsletter. |
hv-cookie-notice | Remembers that you closed the cookie notice so it is not shown again. |
Analytics and advertising
We do not currently use analytics or advertising cookies, and we do not use cookies to track you on other websites. If we add tools such as website analytics or advertising measurement in the future, we will update this policy before they are used and, where the law requires it, ask for your consent first.
Payment cookies
Payments are handled by our payment provider. When you pay, the provider may set its own cookies to process the payment securely and to prevent fraud. These cookies are controlled by the payment provider under its own policies. We never use cookies to store your full card number.
How to control cookies
You can view, block and delete cookies in your browser settings, and clear local storage by clearing your browsing data. Most browsers also let you block cookies for a single website. If you block the cookies listed above, your cart, checkout and account will not work properly.
Your personal information
For how we collect, use and protect your personal information, see our privacy policy.
Changes to this policy
We update this policy when we change the cookies we use. The date at the top shows when it last changed.
