Small sheds
Small sheds are useful for hand tools, garden supplies, patio cushions, garbage bins and compact equipment. HomeVelvet generally groups smaller footprints up to roughly 7×7 ft in this category.
Medium sheds
Medium sheds are a strong all-purpose choice for bicycles, push mowers, lawn equipment, storage totes and seasonal gear. HomeVelvet generally groups footprints from roughly 8×5 ft through about 10×12 ft in this category.
Large sheds
Large sheds provide room for more equipment, multiple storage zones, larger mowers or workshop-style organization. Products beyond the medium range are generally grouped here.
Nominal size vs actual dimensions
A product called “8×10” may not measure exactly 8 ft by 10 ft at every point. Manufacturer outside dimensions, roof overhang and base dimensions can differ. Use the manufacturer specifications when exact clearance matters.
Interior space
Interior usable floor area can be smaller than the outside footprint because of wall thickness, framing, shelving or door hardware.
Door clearance
Measure the width and height of your largest equipment. A large shed with a narrow door may not work for a wide mower or cart.
Leave room around the building
Do not size the shed to fill every inch of the available area. Installation, maintenance, drainage and local rules may require extra clearance.
